Botswana has declared a public holiday to honor Letsile Tebogo, who made history by becoming the first Motswana and African to win Olympic gold in the 200 meters at the Paris 2024 Games.

Tebogo set an African record with a time of 19.46 seconds, defeating reigning champion Noah Lyles.

President Masisi highlighted the victory’s significance for Botswana and Africa, celebrating Tebogo’s dedication and his emotional tribute to his late mother.
