Bringing in a new technical team will be a disaster for the Black Stars

Former Ghana U-17 coach Laryea Kingston has backed Black Stars coach Otto Addo, urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to retain him despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In an interview with *Flashscore*, Kingston cautioned against replacing Addo and the technical team prematurely, arguing it could worsen the team’s challenges.

“He deserves another opportunity,” Kingston said, advocating for Addo to complete the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers before any decisions are made.

The Black Stars endured a dismal AFCON qualifying campaign, finishing bottom of Group F without a single win, prompting calls for management changes.

The GFA’s Executive Council will meet to review the team’s performance and decide on the next steps, with opinions divided between continuity and reform.
