Nevertheless, it appears that the talented defender is on the verge of signing a contract extension with Chelsea. Acheampong, who has attracted interest from Liverpool, was among several academy players who made their first-team debuts towards the end of the 2023/24 season under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The 18-year-old made his debut in a 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur in May, coming on for the final 12 minutes. He was regarded as the third-choice right-back behind Reece James and Malo Gusto.

Under Enzo Maresca, Acheampong played 27 minutes in an EFL Cup match against Barrow in September, marking his only appearance to date. He has also made three appearances in Premier League 2, contributing one assist.
