A former Minster of Youth and Sports for the Republic of Ghana, Mr. Clement Kofi Humado, has cautioned newly appointed sports minister, Hon Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuije to beware of external interest groups who are the basis for the failure of most past ministers.
Humado’s warning comes at the time when his colleague MP is being advised against perceived cartel of dubious personalities at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The Member of Parliament for the Anlo constituency believes Mr. Vanderpuije should concentrate more on dealing with interest groups rather than the mafia within the GFA.
Speaking to Starr FM in Accra, Mr. Kofi Humado said, “He [Vanderpuije] should not hype too much the mafia syndrome within the GFA, but rather concentrate on the various interest groups”.
“But he must be vigilant with all transactions when it comes to ticketing, catering services that is where they do their deals so you the minister must be careful so you apply the right procedures,” he added.
Mr. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije will officially be meeting members of the Ghana FA by the close of next week.
