Dah wins Ambassador's Taekwondo Championship

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA - Gerald Dah of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) defeated Shaibu Yakubu of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) by four points to three to win this year's Korea Ambassador's Taekwondo Open Championship which ended in Accra on Friday.
The game saw the two players exhibiting a lot of prowess in the first round but with the champion proving more purposeful in the subsequent rounds to clinch the ultimate Gold prize in the Featherweight Division at the two-day game sponsored by the Korean Foundation. Umaru Ali of Sky Club and Akpon Kuoami of Ho tied at the third position and received Bronze Medals as their prizes.
The Fair-Play award went to Aaron Lolu of Ho while the Best All Round Player award went to Patrick Quarcoo of Accra.
Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council in an address read for him, urged the Ghana Taekwondo Association to organise regular courses for officiating officials of the sport to enable them improve on their performance and to be abreast with the changing times.
He also called on corporate bodies and institutions to support the government to develop the sport in the country.
