Fan arrested as scores vandalise property in Baba Yara Stadium pitch invasion

Ghanaian fans invaded the Baba Yara Stadium pitch in Kumasi after a 1-0 loss to Angola in the 2025 AFCON Qualifier.

Furious over a 93rd-minute goal, fans threw plastic bottles and damaged pitch panels. Police arrested one fan, but the damage was already done.

This incident follows a history of fan misbehavior, with Ghana previously fined $15,000 by CAF for a similar invasion in January 2024.

In 2019, Ghana was also fined $10,000 for a pitch invasion during a qualifier against South Africa. More sanctions from CAF are expected.
