Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has criticized Kurt Okraku's leadership, calling it a "trial and error" approach to managing the Black Stars' coaching staff.
Over five years, the team has had five head coaches with little success in international competitions.
The cycle began in 2020 with CK Akonnor replacing Kwesi Appiah, followed by Milovan Rajevac after Akonnor’s dismissal. Rajevac was sacked after Ghana’s poor performance at the 2021 AFCON.
Otto Addo then took over on an interim basis, leading the team to the 2022 World Cup but resigning after a group-stage exit. His successor, Chris Hughton, also failed at the 2023 AFCON.
In 2024, Addo was reappointed, but Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. Afriyie criticized the GFA's instability and lack of experienced assistants.
