The programme, dubbed ''Training the Trainer,'' is in line with the aim of the GCA in creating awareness of the game of cricket in the country.

The GCA operations officer, Mr Henry Ackom, in an interview with the GNA sports said, the GCA, with support from the regional associations, the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Municipal Offices have lined up several developmental programmes.

According to Mr Ackom, the training includes coaching, umpire/scoring, cricket administrator programme (CAP), mass introduction to school children and training the trainer programmes.

This, he said, would enable the coaches at the various regions to be equipped with the skills and knowledge in the game to help train kids from the various schools in the regions.

About 40 trainers attended the two day training in Obuasi, with that of the other regions coming on in the subsequent months.

All Cooperate institutions and organisations as well as the government are invited to support the training and development programmes, to help raise cricket awareness in the country.
