Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has apologized to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The four-time AFCON champions finished bottom of Group F with three points after losing three games and drawing three in the qualifiers, marking their first AFCON absence since 2004.
The Black Stars' poor performance sparked widespread disappointment, culminating in a 2-1 loss to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium in their final match. Asante Twum expressed shock at the unprecedented failure, stating, “I have followed the Black Stars for two decades, and I have not seen anything like this before.”
The team now shifts focus to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, aiming to restore national pride.
