Accra, Feb 21, GNA - The Ghana Judo Association (GJA) will this weekend organize the annual Ghana/Japan Judo Championship at the Civil Servants Hall, Ministries, in Accra on Saturday. The event, which is in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Accra, is part of activities marking this years' Japanese Week celebration.
A statement signed by Patrick Anyidoho Cofie, General Secretary of the Association, said the championship is also aimed at honouring the Japanese Ambassador in Ghana, for his immense contribution to the development of the sport in the country.
According to the statement, the event which is organised in conjunction with the National Sports Council is also aimed at enhancing Ghana-Japan ties.
Over 150 participants are expected to compete for honours in this year's one day event. The event will be graced by the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana.
