Ghana coach Otto Addo laments scheduling and team challenges after Niger defeat

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has attributed Ghana's 2-1 loss to Niger, which ended their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hopes, to unfavorable scheduling and insufficient preparation.

Ghana played two matches in four days, including a 1-1 draw with Angola in Luanda, while Niger had an extra day of rest and a shorter travel distance after their 4-0 win over Sudan.

Addo criticized CAF for not scheduling the final group games on the same day, highlighting the disadvantage of a reduced recovery period. He also pointed to defensive lapses, particularly against set-pieces, which led to both Niger goals.

Despite efforts, including switching to a back-four formation, the team failed to capitalize on opportunities.

Addo urged fans to support the players and praised their resilience, emphasizing the potential of emerging talents.
