Ghanaian athletes have urged the government to settle unpaid allowances ahead of the Olympic Games starting July 26 in Paris.
Preparing in Strasbourg, France, they cited unpaid bonuses from previous competitions despite medal-winning performances.
Anonymously speaking to Graphic Sports, they stressed prompt payment to boost morale and requested payments in foreign currencies to avoid issues with cashing cedi cheques abroad.
Ghana Athletics President Bawah Fuseini acknowledged the delays and assured resolutions. He emphasized the need for fair rewards to maintain athlete morale. The team includes eight athletes in various events, with preparations continuing until July 22.
