John Paintsil likely to miss out on World Cup double header

Footy-ghana.com understands that new Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah is likely to drop ex-Leicester City defender John Paintsil from Ghana’s squad for the impending World Cup double header against Lesotho on June 1 and Zambia a week later.

According to our well-placed sources, Paintsil is in danger of losing his place because of lack of playing time, which has led to him severing ties with the Championship club.

Footy-ghana.com sources reveal that Appiah is leaning towards Standard Liege defender Daniel Opare as his first choice right back, whilst Berekum Chelsea left back Richard Kissi Boateng now seems favorite for the left back role in the Black Stars.

Dwarfs defender Rashid Sumaila is in line for his first start for the Black Stars if team captain John Mensah fails to get fit in time.
