Hockey Hockey

After a rather slow start to the Ashanti regional hockey league, the hockey team of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) appear to have found their rhythm after registering a 1-0 win over bottom club, Bibiani over the weekend to jump to the summit of the table.

The special 59th Independence Day league game played at Bibiani also featured, Seniors, Royals, Silver and Unique.

Ernest Amankwaa fetched the only goal for KNUST on the 69th minute to move to the top on 25 points , level on points with Seniors but with superior goals.

Seniors, who featured their former hitman, James Amo-Gottfred, beat Royals 2-0 on a difficult pitch with goals from Amo Gottfred and Seth Boakye.

Dethroned league leaders, Silver were ruthless against Unique, bashing them 4-2 but are still three points shy of the two top teams.

Salisu Mohammed, Andrew Opokuware, Brobbey Adu Gyamfi and Prince Abbeyquaye netted for Silver, while Kwame Owusu and Fuseini Muslim reduced the tally for Unique.
