In his book, Appiah confirmed there was an altercation between him and the player but was quick to add that despite attempts by the player to draw comments from him, he maintained his silence.
…”Kevin was unhappy with a decision I made during a training session and he angrily uttered a sentence with the f-word. I ignored the comment….”
Samuel Inkoom was one of Ghana’s fullbacks at the tournament and has opened up on what ensued between Appiah and Boateng.
According to Inkoom, contrary to the assertions by coach, Kevin’s insults were never directed at him.
Inkoom contends that Appiah mistakenly took offence of a playful incident between Kevin and Sulley Muntari.
He insists the words described by Appiah in his book were targeted at Sulley, not the coach.
“Actually, in my personal view KP Boateng never insulted coach Kwasi Appiah”, Inkoom told Kumasi based Fox FM. “What happened was both Sulley Muntari and KP Boateng were insulting each other in Italian since they were all playing for the same team (AC Milan) and understood the Italian language very well”.
“When they were speaking, coach Kwasi Appiah thought it was him and ordered the two players out of the training pitch. Boateng felt embarrassed since there were lots of media guys around but what I know was he never insulted coach Kwasi Appiah”, Inkoom added.
