Kenya's Harambee Starlets have qualified for the fourth round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Qualifiers after defeating the Black Queens of Ghana 1-0.
The East African nation had not won any of their last three matches against the West African side in all competitions. The Starlets had lost once and drawn twice, the latest draw came just last week in the first leg.
A win on Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium was enough to send the Davis Ouma-led team to the next round of the qualifiers following a goalless draw in Accra.
Neither of the two sides could get a goal in the entire 90 minutes, but the Black Queens conceded a penalty after Justice Tweneboah was adjudged to have handled in the box, which was converted by Gentrix Shikangwa in extra time.
Despite efforts by the visitors to get an equaliser, which would have seen them win the tie on away goals, the Starlets held on to advance to the fourth round of the competition where they will play the winner between Botswana and Zambia.
The latter have a 1-0 advantage from the first leg and will need any kind of a draw to advance. The match shall be played on Wednesday night.
