Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has backed Otto Addo to remain as Black Stars coach, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite the recent failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana finished bottom of their AFCON qualifying group, missing the tournament for the first time in 20 years. However, Kingston cautioned against hasty decisions, suggesting Addo should be allowed to complete the World Cup qualifiers.

“If we change the coach and bring in new faces, it will be a disaster. Let him finish the qualifiers; who knows? Maybe he can qualify,” Kingston told 3Sports.

The Black Stars currently sit second in Group I of the qualifiers, aiming for their fifth World Cup appearance.
