Morocco has suspended flights with Germany, Britain, and the Netherlands over Covid-19 concerns.

The Moroccan national carrier, Royal Air Maroc, said “upon decisions of national authorities and following the pandemic situation,” flights with the three countries were suspended starting from late Wednesday.

“To support our passengers during this period, unlimited changes of ticket date and destination, free of charge until December 15, 2021, to the same or another destination are authorized,” the airline added.

The Moroccan news site Hespress, citing unidentified sources, reported that the suspension decision was taken after a “worrying coronavirus epidemiological development” was monitored in those countries.

Earlier this month, Morocco had suspended flights with Russia for the same reason, the site said.

Several countries on the continent have seen a fresh wave of cases as colder weather sets in, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, where vaccination rates are lower.

Morocco, a country of around 36 million, has fully vaccinated more than 19 million people against Covid-19, according to media reports.

The kingdom’s health authorities earlier this month announced initiating a campaign for giving booster shots to people who were fully inoculated at least six months ago.
