Mr. Eazi celebrates his 31st birthday

Popular singer, Mr. Eazi, named Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, celebrates his 31st birthday on July, 19.

He is popular for putting African music, especially west African hits, on the world map. His songs are usually a representation of two distinctive countries and cultures(Ghana and Nigeria) and are well-loved for their R&B and Afro-beat sounds.

A popular artist among Ghanaian and Nigerian audiences, Mr. Eazi's musical talent first brought him to the limelight in Ghana and later in Nigeria.

He is currently signed to the record label Universal Music Group as well as Los Angeles-based record label, Mad Decent.

Mr. Eazi is best known as the originator of Banku music, a mixture of percolating rhythms and Ghanaian Pidgin English while his music is generally appreciated for fitting into West African pop, hip-hop, highlife, as well as Afrobeats.

1. He is Nigerian

Mr. Eazi is Nigerian by birth and an Ogun State indigene. His real name is Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade and he was born on the 19th of July, 1991 in Port-Harcourt.

2. He studied Mechanical Engineering in Ghana

After his elementary and secondary education in Lagos, Mr. Eazi moved to Ghana in 2007 where he got admitted into Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in Kumasi to study mechanical engineering.

3. He is the CEO of PhoneTrader.ng

In a series of tweets where he hinted at his journey to stardom, Mr. Eazi listed a couple of projects he had embarked upon with a tech startup being one of them. His title on Facebook indicates he is the CEO of PhoneTrader.ng, a company that allows you to trade your old phone for a new one.

4. He got his stage name while in school

In an interview with Guardian Newspaper, he said while studying for his B.SC in Mechanical Engineering, he always ended the promo bulk SMS he did for shows with ‘’Be Easy” and from there the name stuck.

5. He started his musical career in 2010

Mr. Eazi started recording songs in 2010 as a hobby with a musical group called Code Red, it wasn’t until 2012 that he released his first ever single titled "PIPI DANCE".

6. He loves eating Banku

The singer has declared his love for Banku – a local meal in Ghana on several occasions.

He also termed his music “Banku Music” because he combines the different genres of music to create his own sound.
