Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom was unused by DC United who secured a Playoff spot in the MSL despite drawing 0-0 with Kansas Sporting City on Friday night Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium.
The 25-year-old full-back was overlooked by United manager Ben Olsen for a starting role and did not prefer him as an option for any of his three substitutions.
Both United and KSC went into the game keen to claiming conference glory met at RFK Stadium, and though neither found it, United were able to celebrate a tremendous turnaround and claim the East’s first playoff berth.
Either sides struggled to break through as they played to an entertaining, scrappy 0-0 draw in front of a rain-soaked crowd.
Inkoom joined United in the summer as a free agent and has been inconsistent in league games as he has played just 46 minutes minutes out of a possible 270.
However in the CONCACAF Champions League, he has been consistent as he has featured in all two games in the competition, setting up a goal in United’s 2-0 win over Panama side Tauro FC.
