Sylvester Dennis was the only contestant from Ghana and Africa that participated in this year Mr. Universe contest in Sapri-Italy that came off on the 2nd to 4th of July.
The contest itself saw 96 competitors from Italy, France, England, Slovenia, Ciprus, Germany, Danmark, Hollond, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Romania and Ghana.
Sylvester contested in the medium class, which was the toughest of the contest with 14 contestants, which was won by Uwe Hemmer of Germany. Although he clouded make it to the top 6 of his class, the president of the IBFA organizers of the event mr BIAGIO FILIZOLA was impress with the performance of the Ghanaian bodybuilder. Specking to the president of the Ghana Muscleflavour Amateur Bodybuilding Association [GMABA], mr Biagio said it was a good performance and his association is prepare to invite more bodybuilder from Ghana to compete in subsequent event.
Specking to the ,the president of the GMABA mr Abdul-Hayye Yartey said, we are impress with his performance. He was competing in his first international event. It is a credit to the boy, bodybuilders of Ghana and the association. It is a great experience for him he said.
Mr Yartey said, this is the first of many international contests the association will be competing in. He said the association is expected to send a team to Egypt this September to contest in the Africa championship. He took the opportunity to thank the Italian Embassy for given the association the opportunity to showcase one of it?s talent to the world, which is a moral booster for the development of the sport in Ghana
