Taekwando championship to mark national day of Korea

Accra, Oct 12, GNA - A two-day Taekwando Championship, dubbed: "Korea Cup 2005" will take place at the DG Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium from Friday October 14 to Saturday 15. The Championship, which would be an annual event, is collaboration between the Ghana Taekwando Association (GTKDA) and Embassy of the People's Republic of Korea in celebration of the national day of the Asian country, the home of the sport.
A statement from the GTKDA, signed by Mr Erasmus Adorkor, General Secretary of the association said the championship would take the format of straight individual elimination bouts.
He said in all, the Championship would be in eight weight categories and a winner would be declared at the end of the two-day for each category.
The categories are Finweight, Flyweight, Bantamweight, Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight.
