The referees manager of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Alex Kotey, has revealed intentions to implement the successful Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology demonstrated at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Read full article.a FIFA delegation scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Accra to discuss the introduction of VAR in Ghana's domestic leagues.
This two-day event, referred to as the VAR kick-off meeting, is essential for FIFA's Implementation Assessment Approval Program, which is a prerequisite for any member association aiming to adopt VAR.
Kotey stated to Asempa FM, “We acknowledge that VAR cannot be utilized at every league venue. It will be implemented for league matches that are broadcast live on television.”
He added, “If you observed the last Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the VAR decisions were accurate. That’s the standard we aim to achieve.”
Alex Kotey, along with GFA General Secretary Prosper Harisson Addo, will be part of the GFA delegation attending the meeting.
