Youngster Jerry Afriyie makes history with Black Stars call-up

Jerry Afriyie has become the first Ghanaian third-tier league player to join the Black Stars in the modern football era. His call-up is for Ghana's final 2025 AFCON qualifier against Niger.

Afriyie’s journey began with a standout performance at the 2024 African Games, where he was the tournament's top scorer.

He also led Ghana’s U20 team to secure a spot at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, earning Best Player and Goal King awards.

This milestone reflects the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to recognizing talent from grassroots leagues.
