2023 polls: West Africa branch of Nigeria's ruling party sets up executive council for Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress – West Africa Chapter has inaugurated its executives to lead the campaign of the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the region as the presidential elections draw near.

The executives were unveiled at a strict invite ceremony by the chairman of the regional chapter, Chief Hon David Alex-Duduyemi in Accra on Saturday, February 11.

Alex-Duduyemi said the executives were inaugurated in Ghana with a mandate to rally the support of Nigerians and the international community for Tinubu ahead of the elections.

He said the 33-man PCC would be chaired by Chief Hon David Alex-Duduyemi while Hon. Ogunremi Ayokanmi Osuntayo (Ghana) and Hon. Amb Giwa Mustapha Ayinde would serve as Deputy Regional Chairman. Chief Akintola Bolanle was handed the role of Regional General Secretary.

Other members of the executives are, Hon Olugbodi Daud Toriola Yussuff – Deputy Regional General Secretary (Togo), Hon. Agboola Fiso Lawrence – Vice Chairman (Togo), Hon. Toye Razaaq – Vice Chairman (Gambia) Hon. Habib Mustapha Haliru - Vice Chairman, Hon Amb. Alh. Tajudeen Akinwale - Regional Publicity Secretary, Hon. Aare Adekunle Ayo Bolarinwa - Deputy Publicity Secretary, Bar. Tunde Fakoya Eso - Legal Adviser, Hon. Rashid Olola Oki - Regional Organizing Secretary, Hon. Sulaiman Olayinka Obelawo - Dep. Reg. Organizing Secretary, Otunba Hon. Alex-Duduyemi O. Phillips - Regional Treasurer, Hon. Richard Achibong- Regional Financial Secretary, Hon. Pst Adebayo Oluwadare - Director, Regional welfare, HRH. Dr. Olaide Mayowa Jose - Director, Coordinating, Chief Hon. Saeed Ibrahim Owolabi - Director, Mobilization Strategies, Hon. Excerpts of Alex-Duduyemi's statement reads: “The Dinner and Award Night is highly imperative for the accomplishment of the task ahead of the general election. Over five million Nigerians reside in the 15 West African countries which are neighbors to Nigerian and also accessible electoral process. Nigerians living in West Africa Diaspora are increasingly becoming relevant and vital in achieving our national goal.”

“It is our primary and nonegioate responsibility to make all Nigerians with PVC in West Africa to travel to Nigeria and exercises their electoral franchise. On this note we are committed to their right and make sure it is done perfectly and safely for the success of our candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kasim Shettima.”

He further charged the executives to mobilize members of the ruling party to ensure Nigerians living in the region travel to Nigeria to vote for the former Lagos Governor.

He added that the success of Bola Tinubu is a success for the entire country.

“In recognition of well-meaning Nigerians and well-wishers of Nigeria, we humbly need your overwhelming support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Shettma to secure the expected mandate of the electorates, we must mobilize Nigerians who are living in West Africa Countries to travel to Nigeria come February 25 because Asiwaju Bola Ahmed is the man of the people.”

“The success of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the success of the entire country and Africa as a continent. On behalf of our Candidate and APC All Progressive Congress we solicit your support financially and materially as part of West Africa Diaspora contributions and it will become a remarkable reference and history.”
