Aliou Cisse, the rasta-haired manager of the Teranga Lions, the Senegalese national team, has become the subject of massive praise on social media platform Twitter.
His praise is partly over his feat as the best male coach on the continent but more for his resilience and redemption in AFCON finals.

His role in the failures made the praises even more pronounced.
In 2002, Cisse was a captain of the Teranga Lions and it was his penalty miss that ensured that Senegal had to wait longer for AFCON gold. Cameroon beat Senegal 3 – 2 on penalties to win the tournament staged in Mali.
In 2019, Cisse was on the bench as manager of the team that went as far as the final in Egypt, only to be defeated by Algeria.
Bring on the next AFCON and Cisse’s boys went a step further and via the same penalties that brought the nation heartbreak in 2002, his boys defeated Egypt by 4 – 2.
For others on Twitter, that he is a local coach and has risen to winning an AFCON dominated by foreign coaches, meant that Africans can deliver the goods with necessary support from their nations.
