At least 25 people, including women and children, died after traffickers deliberately capsized their boat off the Comoros Archipelago on November 1, 2024.
The boat sank between Anjouan, Comoros, and Mayotte, a French island.
The survivors, five rescued by fishermen, stated the boat had carried around 30 people.
The tragedy highlights the perilous migration route, where thousands have died in recent years.
Mayotte, part of France since 2011, attracts many Comoros migrants seeking better living conditions.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported two similar incidents earlier this year, raising concerns over the dangerous crossings.
