Burkina Faso and Russia's state-owned energy company, Rosatom, have engaged in discussions to establish a nuclear project in Burkina Faso, following a three-day forum focused on economic partnerships.
During the forum, which included Burkina Faso's Prime Minister Kyélem de Tambèla, both parties proposed a renewable energy deal alongside the development of nuclear infrastructure.
The discussions aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation, with topics including nuclear energy adoption and training for Burkinabe students in related fields.
The nuclear agreement, initially proposed in October 2023, is part of broader efforts to diversify Burkina Faso's energy resources.
