Cameroon has banned media discussions about the health of President Paul Biya following rumors of his death.
Interior Minister Paul Atanga Nji warned that such reports disturb national peace and threatened legal action against offenders.
The 91-year-old leader has not been seen in public since September 8, sparking speculation. Officials claim Biya is healthy and staying privately in Switzerland.
Journalists have criticized the ban as an attack on press freedom, with some fearing government retaliation.
The Committee to Protect Journalists called on authorities to end the threats and clarify the president's condition to stop the rumors.
