Uganda's main opposition leader Bobi Wine has reported that security forces besieged the headquarters of his National Unity Platform (NUP) in Kampala on the eve of an anti-government protest.
Soldiers and police allegedly turned the NUP offices into a "military barracks" and arrested party officials. While police did not confirm the arrests, they mentioned taking "precautionary steps" to prevent the protest.
President Yoweri Museveni warned that organizers were "playing with fire." Bobi Wine denied organizing the protest but supported efforts against injustice and corruption.
This comes amid similar protests in Kenya, where demonstrators demand President William Ruto's resignation.
