Popular Nigerian musician Eadris Abdulkarim has criticized the Nigerian government over the upheaval in the country that has resulted in the killing of some citizens and security officers.
He said the government of that country has failed the people in all aspects of their lives as well as the economy.
Eadris told Mz Gee on the Showbiz 927 on 3FM over the weekend that the government must take responsibility for the incident and find lasting solutions to it.
“What is happening in Nigeria is not about the tribe. Gov’t has failed us from the past Presidents till now,” he said. He added “Nigerians have experienced decades of enslavement and injustices. The youth of today have learned from the mistakes of the past.”
Several days of protests to get the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) unit of the Nigerian police disbanded has degenerated into violence and shooting of peaceful protesters.
This has seen the international community including the United Nations, the African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) calling for calm and restraint on the part of both protesters and the police.
