The U.S. has announced nearly $414 million in humanitarian aid for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where over 25 million people need assistance due to ongoing conflicts.
This aid will support food, healthcare, water, sanitation, and shelter through UN agencies and other organizations.
The funding also includes agricultural commodities from U.S. farmers.
The U.S. contribution since October totals $838 million.
Amidst fighting with M23 insurgents and a record 7.2 million displaced people, the U.S. hopes to inspire further international support.
Additionally, $10 million will go towards health assistance, including 50,000 mpox vaccines, addressing an outbreak that has claimed over 1,100 lives.
