In Ethiopia's Gofa zone, heavy rains caused a devastating landslide on Sunday, killing 229 people and leaving many missing.
Men continue digging through the mud with bare hands, spades, and pickaxes, while women and children mourn nearby.
A second landslide on Monday buried hundreds more. Without earth-moving equipment, villagers are forced to carry bodies down a narrow, muddy footpath for burial.
Disaster officials have used drones in search efforts, but villagers persist in digging.
Gofa, located 320km southwest of Addis Ababa, has faced severe rains and flooding, exacerbating the crisis. The UN calls for $3bn in aid for Ethiopia's affected regions.
