In northern Ethiopia, 17-year-old Berhane Haile's life changed drastically after stepping on unexploded ordnance in Tigray, a region still bearing the remnants of a civil war.

The explosion led to the amputation of his left leg and injuries to both hands. Now living in Adwa for easier school access, Berhane uses a prosthetic leg and receives help from classmates.

He can no longer pursue his dream of farming, yet he remains hopeful, aiming to become a civil servant to support his family.

Despite post-war challenges, he is determined to rebuild his life and find a new path forward.
