A fire at Hillside Endarasha Primary School in Nyeri County, Kenya, has killed at least 17 students, with 13 others suffering severe burns.
The fire broke out around midnight while pupils were sleeping in a dormitory housing over 150 boys, aged 10 to 14.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Due to the wooden construction of the building, the flames spread rapidly.
Kenya's President William Ruto has called for a thorough investigation.
School fires are not uncommon in Kenya, and past incidents have raised concerns over safety in boarding schools.
