They later claimed it was a case of mistaken identity, intended for Francis Gaitho, accused of discrediting police investigations. A video of the incident sparked outrage, highlighting concerns of illegal abductions linked to anti-government protests.

Gaitho disputes the police's explanation, believing his abduction attempt was related to his critical journalism.

The police chief recently resigned amid criticism, and Gaitho plans to sue, asserting he won't be intimidated by these actions.
