Kenya's acting Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja Kirocho, has announced the transfer of officers from a Nairobi police station near a dump where dismembered bodies were found.
Eight female bodies, aged 18 to 30, have been retrieved, with visible marks of torture. The police watchdog is investigating potential police involvement amid allegations of human rights abuses during anti-government protests.
The bodies were discovered in the Mukuru slum, with some bags containing severed parts. President William Ruto has vowed accountability for those responsible. The incident recalls last year's discovery of hundreds of cult-related deaths in Malindi.
