Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has ordered the release of 27 teenagers detained for alleged treason following anti-government protests in August.

The group, aged 14 to 18, had been held for nearly three months.

Rights groups claim 23 deaths.

Although the treason charges were dropped, an investigation into their prolonged detention is underway, and the government has pledged safe returns for the minors.
