Nigerians in Ghana hail President Tinubu's appointment as ECOWAS Chairman

The Acting President of the All Nigeria Community in Ghana (ANC), Chief (Dr) Bayo Albert Asaolu said he believes in the ability of President Tinubu to champion stronger and better economic collaboration in the sub-region.

In a press statement released by his office, Mr Asaolu opines that Nigeria and Ghana should be the leading partners in the region going by the historical relationship between the two countries.

He, however, lamented the unhealthy discord that usually emerges between the citizens of the two countries.

He pointed out that Nigerians in Ghana often suffer humiliation which at times leads to violent reactions.

"I am positioned to address some of these issues. At the moment my team is embarking on dialogue with the security agencies in Ghana and with the good responses we are getting, I am confident that the two countries will champion a good relationship that will boost our economies," he said.

The Acting President said he would lead a team to have a discussion with the Nigeria President and possibly facilitate his coming to Ghana for the purpose of promoting investment between the two countries.

He also appreciates the quality collaboration that ANC is having with the present Nigeria High Commissioner.

"Our High Commissioner has been very supportive of our programs and activities. He assured that great things are ahead for both countries to benefit. I want to sincerely appreciate our High Commissioner who has always told me to ensure a healthier relationship between Nigerians and the host," he said.

He concluded by calling on Nigerians to be law-abiding so as to allow the collaboration to be more productive. "We shall embrace any idea that will further promote our two countries. In fact, we are rolling out some activities like conferences, business development summit, trade fairs, and regional dialogue among others," he promised.
