Russia denies coercing Nigerian students to fight in Ukraine

The Russian Embassy in Nigeria has denied reports claiming Nigerian students in Russia are being forced to join the military for the Ukraine invasion.

These reports, initially published by Bloomberg, suggested coercion of African students and migrants into fighting.

The embassy called the reports false and harmful to educational cooperation.

The Nigerian government also denied the claims, emphasizing no such coercion exists.

The embassy thanked Nigeria for debunking the misinformation. Russia continues to bolster its military, with President Putin recently enlisting 150,000 conscripts.
