Ugandan Olympic runner Rebecca Cheptegei, 33, tragically died after being set on fire by her former partner, Dickson Ndiema Marangach, in Kenya.
Despite approaching the police multiple times, she was attacked after returning from church.
Cheptegei, who competed in the Paris Olympics, suffered burns on 80% of her body and passed away four days later.
She was buried with full military honors in Uganda, her homeland.
Her death has sparked outrage over violence against women, particularly in Kenya's athletics community, and she is remembered for her resilience and sporting achievements.
