South Africa reported 5,552 new infections on Monday, June 14, representing a positivity rate of 18.5%.

According to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NICD), Gauteng province continues to lead the third wave of the pandemic, registering three thousand, seven hundred and twenty new infections, equivalent to 67%.

The provinces of the Eastern Cape follow with 446 new infections, the Northwest with 278 and Kwazulu-Natal with 247 infections in the last 24 hours.

Thus, the country registers a cumulative of one million 752 thousand and 630 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

More than 114 lost their lives in the period under review, totalling 57 thousand and 879 deaths due to Coronavirus, as indicated by the statistical map of the National Department of Health.

A total of 1 million 611 thousand and 447 citizens have recovered, representing a rate of 91.9% of people who have conquered the disease, at a time when the country performed

12 million 223 thousand and 448 tests, 30 thousand and 034 of which in the last 24 hours.

The country has 83 thousand and 304 active cases, with 1 million 777,000 and 288 people vaccinated.
