South Africa's parliament has entered a new era of political maturity, marked by a calm and orderly atmosphere as President Cyril Ramaphosa presented plans for the first time since the coalition government took office.

The ANC failed to secure over 50% of the vote, leading to a coalition with nine other parties.

Former President Jacob Zuma, barred from running as an MP, did not attend. The uMkhonto weSizwe party, founded less than a year ago, is now the official opposition.

The Economic Freedom Fighters pledged constructive opposition. Ramaphosa emphasized economic growth, job creation, and tackling high living costs in his address.
