Ray McCauley, the controversial founder of Rhema Bible Church South Africa, has passed away at 75.
His son confirmed he died peacefully at home surrounded by family.
President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed deep condolences, noting McCauley’s impact on the nation as a spiritual leader.
Rhema, with over 45,000 members, was influential during apartheid, advocating for racial inclusivity and integrity.
However, McCauley faced criticism for his wealth, lifestyle, and political ties, including support for former President Jacob Zuma.
He is survived by his second wife, Zelda, his son Joshua, and three grandchildren.
