South Africa's new coalition government unveiled

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a new coalition government after the ANC lost its parliamentary majority in May's elections.

The ANC will hold 20 out of 32 cabinet posts, while the DA will have six, and the remaining six are distributed among smaller parties. This coalition is unprecedented in South Africa's democratic history.

The decline in ANC support is attributed to public dissatisfaction with its performance on basic services, unemployment, poverty, and corruption. Key ministries like defence, finance, and foreign affairs remain with the ANC.

The DA will manage home affairs and public works. Ramaphosa emphasized prioritizing inclusive economic growth and social justice.
