In South Africa, social media influencers are becoming political mobilizers ahead of this week's general election, targeting the youth demographic, which makes up 42% of registered voters.
Karabo “Kay” Mahapa, a TikTok creator with over 350,000 followers, uses his platform to encourage voting, reflecting the younger generation's uncertainty about the country's future.
While Mahapa hasn't endorsed a specific party, he has urged followers not to vote for the governing African National Congress (ANC), which faces allegations of corruption and economic mismanagement.
Opinion polls suggest the ANC may lose its parliamentary majority for the first time since 1994.
