Why jail Kanu, Igboho when Fulani herders are roaming free - Ortom asks FG

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State

Governor Samuel Ortom has asked the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to release the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu who he said is just fighting for the rights of his people.

Ortom who spoke in a wide-ranging interview on Arise TV on Wednesday, June 28 questioned why Kanu and Sunday Igboho has been incarcerated by this government when Fulani herders are roaming free despite committing atrocities against Nigerians.

The Benue State governor has been a critic of the president following the lack of a strong hand in handling banditry in the country, especially in his state. He has also been a victim of attacks by unknown gunmen after surviving assassination on two occasions.

He further accused the president and his cronies of trying to Islamise Nigeria with the Fulanis controlling the powers of the state.

Below is an excerpt from the interview: "Nnamdi Kanu should be released. A freedom fighter and agitator who says that he wants liberation for his people, why are you incarcerating him? Why are you not going to arrest Fulani men? Look at the train blast in the Abuja-Kaduna, up till today, our people are still been kept by these bandits."

"Where is the security? Where is the president? To go out and rescue these people, tell me what is happening?"

"Igboho, they went after him in the Southwest and were able to stop him. At least we are not hearing about Igboho again but can’t they stop these Fulani men who are terrorizing this country."
