Reserves : Joseph Carr (Kotoko) Hesse Odamtten (Hearts) Abedi Pele (Real United) Samuel Opoku Nti (Kotoko)

NOTE: The Limann government was playing politics and had decided not to let the Black Stars go,
but when Rawlings took over on 31st Dec, 1981, he allowed them to go and they won.

Ben Kayede inclusion was very controversial b'cos he wasn't playing 1st division team. He was playing for Auroras(Hearts team B)and he was so good to ignore and C.K. Gyamfi added him to the squad.

Three senior players(Seth Ampadu,Opoku Afriyie and Joe Carr lost their position to Sampson Lamptey,George Alhassan and Owusu Mensah)respectively through indiscipline in opening match against Libya which drew 2-2. Those guys played good and Coach C.K. kept faith in them for the rest of the tournament and it works perfectly as Sampson Lamptey and George Alhassan together with Albert Asaase and Kofi Badu was included in Africa 11 from that tournament.

Sampson Lamptey, Albert Asaase and Kofi Badu was selected to the best 11 of the tournament.
