Enough of fixing matches; stop building boxers the wrong way – Joseph Agbeko

Ghanaian boxing legend Joseph Agbeko has expressed frustration over rampant match-fixing and unethical practices in Ghanaian boxing.

Agbeko criticized the tendency to build boxers' records with easy fights, arguing it undermines their readiness for tougher challenges.

He recounted witnessing fixed matches at a recent event in Kwahu, where staged knockdowns were evident.

Agbeko, who brought a knowledgeable friend from the U.S. to the event, was particularly embarrassed by the lack of genuine competition. He urged stakeholders to end match-fixing and prioritize developing boxers through legitimate, challenging bouts.
