ATMs in Ghana increase modestly as POS terminals decline – Report

By the end of 2023, the number of ATMs in Ghana reached 2,287, a 1.4% increase from 2022, while POS terminals declined by 6.91% to 12,491 due to the removal of non-functional devices.

The 2023 Payment Systems Oversight Report highlights the shift towards digital banking, with mobile apps, USSD services, and online banking becoming widely used.

The number of digital banking products rose from 109 in 2022 to 125 in 2023, reflecting strong demand.

Debit card issuance grew by 17.55% to over 6 million, and credit card issuance increased by 11.4% to over 54,000.
